Welcome to val_hut, probably the coolest laziest website out there. :)

This is a website ran by val_screamz, but you might know me as Valentina or Yua. Valentina was initially my online persona, but it became such a big part of my identitiy some people literally only know me as Valentina or Val. Consider it my middle name, I suppose.

I am a Welsh graphics designer, sound engineer, media student, Linux user, and overall a very annoying but handy and caring moron. My pronouns are she/they (I am a demigirl - but sometimes it is legitimately easier just to say "girl"), and I have a pretty big interest in the railroads, urban planning, digital technology, broadcast media, telecommunication, and recent history (mid-late 20th century + 21st century), albeit, less so the important events more so what British Rail Engineering Ltd. staff were doign in their lunch breaks (designing a UFO, apparently...).

Why does this website exsit? Well I've been in the Neocities scene for a while. In 2021, during lockdown phase II (something only Wales went through), I decided to try learn HTML and CSS after seeing some pretty neat tricks on the now long-abandoned MySpace93, which suffered a fate quicker than (yet equally as brutal as) the real MySpace. Anyways, it was quite literally a shitpost website I was working on, but I learned a lot of my HTML and CSS skills there. Afterwards, I redesigned the website into WidePop, utilitising a template from "I don't remember who they were called", in my words. We'll call this v2. Later in 2021, v2 was succeeded by the pinker v3, which added pink styiling. I also went on to develop NOW!Net, which was a Neocities index and review site that I uh... abandoned. Eventually, I came around to developing v4, which was the first version where I was comfortable enough to build it from scratch. This came in 2023, and was a complete redesign and rebrand of the site.

Which leaves us here... This is what I call v5 of WPSite. I never really versioned my websites, and this is the fourth rename and rebrand of it. But I will consider them all part of WPSite, and this being version 5. Undder this logic, WPSite has been in development for 4 years, and have been through 4 development reboots. However, this still does not answer the question of why val_hut. Well, honestly, for a while I lost interest in tech. I wanted to get away from computers and particularly the web. but I decided to return to Neocities as honestly web development is fun. And also, this place we call "Neocities" and the realm of static sites as a whole makes a brilliant subsitute for social media. Here is where I will pretty much do whatever I want, from blogging to hosting art. I decided to make WPSite v5 simpler than the rest, for the sake of lower maintanance. That's why this sorta looks like a Gopher site. It's the coolest, laziest website on the planet!
